As gemstones are a finite natural resource,
we do not discard stones simply because
of minor imperfections. Whenever they do
not affect the use or durability of the piece,
we carefully incorporate them as part of the
unique character created by nature.

At IRIS Jewel Art, we are committed to
using natural pearls. For this reason,
some pearls may have natural characteristics
such as dimples, uneven surfaces, growth
lines, or small surface marks.

These features are evidence of how
the pearl has grown naturally, layer by layer.

During the creation process, we carefully
select and remove pearls whose characteristics
would affect the overall balance of the piece.
At the same time, we choose to incorporate
pearls whose natural variations add to their
beauty and character.

The gold-filled material used for our earring
components, chains, and other parts is crafted
by bonding a layer of 10K, 12K, or 14K gold to
a brass core under high heat and pressure.
　
Gold-filled has a rich history in jewelry
making, famously used in vintage pocket
watches and traditional Japanese obi
accessories.
　
It features a gold layer over 20 times thicker
than standard gold plating, making it
exceptionally durable and resistant to wear.

Although 14K gold-filled components are
covered with a substantial layer of gold,
certain areas, such as cut edges,
cross-sections, and the inside of holes,
may not be fully covered due to the nature
of the material.

As a result, slight darkening or dullness may
occur over time. Gently cleaning the piece
with a non-abrasive jewelry cleaner or a soft
cloth will help maintain its original luster.

For our earrings, we use gold-filled
components. For our clip-on earrings,
we use nickel-free plated components,
which contain little to no nickel—a
common cause of metal allergies.
　
Both materials are generally considered
less likely to cause metal allergies, though
individual reactions vary. Even 18K gold or
pure gold may cause a reaction depending
on an individual's constitution or physical
condition.

we recommend consulting a medical
professional before purchasing.

To help preserve the luster of your jewelry,
each piece is cleaned with a specialized
jewelry cleaner and treated with a
plant-derived anti-tarnish coating before
shipment.

Depending on the type of natural gemstone,
certain components may be treated with the
coating before the piece is assembled.

While this plant-derived coating is designed
to be very gentle on the skin, it carries a
subtle, distinct scent. To minimize this, we
wash each piece with a mild, neutral
detergent after application. However, a light
odor may still be noticeable when you first
open your package.

Please rest assured that the scent will
naturally dissipate within a few days once
exposed to air.
